Not right now. It's too soon.
But I genuinely hope the motives for what has happened today get intense scrutiny, and that nobody shames the honest members of the media into getting off message. Those on the right who demand we hold all of Islam responsible for the actions of organized nuts need to pay very close attention to all that comes out of this.

I think we should not let ourselves be distracted from where the threat comes. The threat comes from extremists of all stripes and colors. Islam currently produces a disproportionate number of the nutjobs, but at the turn of the last century it was anarchists and left-wing radicals and the turn of our current century there were still a number of eco-terrorists and P.E.T.A. fellow travelers threatening people. At other points in our history it was groups like the KKK that represented the threat. They will ALWAYS be with us - the key is to monitor them , contain them and to punish them severely when they are caught doing something to innocent people
ReplyDeleteThe motives for the act are always the same - some nutjob with a screw loose somewhere, with real or imagined grievences, taking action that reasonable people can't (or shouldn't) condone
